Who are we?

Hope Woodwork is a project of Kingdom Way Trust ( You can find us in our new premises, Unit ‘A’  (former Auction House), 7-9 Finmere Road, Eastbourne, BN22 8QG.

Our aims are to:

 1. create jobs and offer skills training to people

 2. provide a non-threatening environment that equips people for work

 3. help restore self worth and build confidence

 4. recycle and reuse waste wood and other products

 5. provide volunteering opportunities

We have a workshop which we use for making furniture and other items. These are made from heat treated pallet wood, used scaffold boards and other waste wood as we can get it.

Who can train with us?

We work with anyone over 18 who has been unemployed for a while and demonstrates a real desire to find employment. It’s better if they want to work in a field related to carpentry, but not essential. Part of our aim is to give people new skills, but also to help them get into a routine of work, learn how to be disciplined about turning up on time and obeying health and safety rules etc. – all essential skills for most work places.

Most volunteers cannot come 5 days a week because they are required to spend time searching for work as part of JSA. If you are interested in volunteering with us please send us a message using the contact form below and we’ll arrange for you to visit.

Volunteers are not paid and expenses are not covered, although we do provide basic personal protection equipment and tea and coffee! But people volunteer their time in return for learning new skills – both practical and life-skills. We sell the products we make and this goes towards our rent, equipment and other overheads.
